El 1978, al volant del seu Lancia Stratos HF &#8220;Pirelli&#8221;, Carello es va proclamar vencedor del 26 Rally\u00a0Costa Brava i del campionat d&#8217;Europa de ral\u00b7lis, copilotat pel seu compatriota Maurizio Perissinot.
