The Rally Costa Brava begins a new era in 2025. With KH-7 now joining as the main sponsor of the event, the oldest rally in Spain and one of the most prestigious worldwide will be known as the Rally KH-7 Costa Brava . The 73rd edition will be held from March 13 to 15 in the city of Girona and the service park located in nearby Fornells de la Selva. The 73 Rally KH-7 Costa Brava is set to celebrate the partnership between these two major brands with a new participation record, aiming for a maximum of 270 teams.
KH-7 ’s commitment to the Rally Costa Brava represents a further step in the brand’s solid support for the world of sports. KH-7 sponsors several teams and sporting events, including collaborations with well-known drivers such as Laia Sanz, Isidre Esteve, chef Nandu Jubany, and the KH-7 Ecovergy Team truck, all of whom have participated in the 2025 Dakar Rally. The company also supports RallyClassics Africa, a regularity and navigation rally-raid, as well as multiple cycling and running events across Spain.
The Rally Costa Brava held its first edition in 1953, became an international event in 1969, and in 1972 it scored for the first time for the European Rally Championship. Since then, it gained a reputation as the first major event of the European rally season. This status was regained in 2010 when, under RallyClassics’ organization, it became an event exclusive for historic vehicles, a category that has only grown since. In fact, more than 60% of participants now come from other countries. Therefore, the 73 Rally KH-7 Costa Brava will once again be the opening round of the FIA European Historic Rally Championship and the Spanish and Catalan Historic Rally Championships.
Josep M. Lloreda, president of KH Lloreda, assesses the brand’s commitment: „It is a real pleasure and an honour for us to be the main sponsor of such an historic rally like the Costa Brava, the oldest in Spain. Our company’s activity has always been closely tied to our local community, which is why we collaborate with high-level athletes and events.“
Alex Romani, president of Club RallyClassics: “We are thrilled to welcome KH-7 as the main sponsor of the Rally Costa Brava. KH-7 is a well-established brand in the sports community, and it joins us at such an exceptional moment for the rally. With KH-7’s support, along with many other companies, public institutions and a team of 500 volunteers, the 73 Rally KH-7 Costa Brava is set to make history.”
Aiming for a participation record
The 73 Rally KH-7 Costa Brava is on track to set a new participation record for a rally in Spain. After two years reaching the maximum of 240 registered teams, this year the organization has increased the registration limit to 270 teams. With a month and a half left until the event, more than 200 teams have already registered, a figure that suggests that the limit of 270 teams will be reached and, as a result, a new national record will be set.
Among the participating teams will be the finest historic cars, as well as some of the most outstanding drivers, including numerous national and international champions on the starting line. The 73 Rally KH-7 Costa Brava will be a true living museum that will delight fans.
Aware of a rich historical heritage that needs to be shared and preserved, the organization prepares a special tribute each year to honour a chapter from the long history of the Rally Costa Brava. This year, the focus will be on the legendary Lancia Rally 037, marking 40 years since the model’s second victory in the rally. It was in the 33rd edition, in 1985. In fact, the Lancia 037s occupied the first four places, led by the winners Miki Biasion and Tiziano Siviero. Two-time World Rally Champion Miki Biasion will return to Girona to relive that historic victory with the fans. Furthermore, the exhibition Legend category will be dedicated to the Lancia Rally 037 cars that will take part in this edition, with drivers and collectors coming from across Europe.
