The Spanish duo Carlos Santaolalla \u2013 Jan Rosa (Toyota Land Cruiser HDJ80), assisted by Pedreg\u00e0 Team, claimed the overall victory in their first participation in the rally. Nearly 40 teams from 12 different countries took part in this event that combines the precision of regularity with the intuition of navigation, all serving as a school for teams who want to learn and improve their skills.<\/p>\n<p>The itinerary, designed in collaboration with Josep Maria Servi\u00e0 and Fina Rom\u00e1n, was heavily impacted by the torrential rains that fell on the area in the previous days. Despite this and the last-minute modifications, the proposed route maintained the spirit in which it was initially created: with a clearly ascending level of difficulty and a great variety of terrains, ranging from rocky tracks to oueds, including chotts and the much-anticipated Merzouga dunes, which were visited in three of the five stages.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.rallyclassics.club\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/09\/rallyclassics-africa-2024-103-1.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-47566 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/www.rallyclassics.club\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/09\/rallyclassics-africa-2024-103-2.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"669\" height=\"446\" srcset=\"https:\/\/rallyclassics.club\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/09\/rallyclassics-africa-2024-103-2.jpg 900w, https:\/\/rallyclassics.club\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/09\/rallyclassics-africa-2024-103-2-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/rallyclassics.club\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/09\/rallyclassics-africa-2024-103-2-768x512.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 669px) 100vw, 669px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Exciting and h<\/strong><strong>i<\/strong><strong>gh demanding competition until the last stage<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>The battle for the overall victory has been particularly intense and was not decided until the fifth and final day of competition. While Santaolalla-Rosa took the lead after the first stage, the Italians Ricciari-Morosi (Mitsubishi Pajero) did so after the first dunes faced during the second stage, while Rius-Jim\u00e9nez (Seat Toledo Marathon) climbed to the top position at the end of the third stage.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.rallyclassics.club\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/09\/rallyclassics-africa-2024-114-1.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-47547 size-large aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/www.rallyclassics.club\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/09\/rallyclassics-africa-2024-114-1-1024x683.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"669\" height=\"446\" srcset=\"https:\/\/rallyclassics.club\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/09\/rallyclassics-africa-2024-114-1-1024x683.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/rallyclassics.club\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/09\/rallyclassics-africa-2024-114-1-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/rallyclassics.club\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/09\/rallyclassics-africa-2024-114-1-768x512.jpg 768w, https:\/\/rallyclassics.club\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/09\/rallyclassics-africa-2024-114-1-1536x1024.jpg 1536w, https:\/\/rallyclassics.club\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/09\/rallyclassics-africa-2024-114-1-2048x1366.jpg 2048w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 669px) 100vw, 669px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Seat Hist\u00f3ricos&#8216; hopes of revalidating their victory in RallyClassics Africa were cut short during the fourth stage, the &#8222;Marathon&#8220;, due to a mechanical failure in the Toledo, giving the lead back to the eventual winners. After fixing the breakdown and continuing only with front wheel drive, Rius-Jim\u00e9nez finished in seventeenth position.<\/p>\n<p>For Santaolalla \u2013 Rosa, <em>\u201cThe rally has been demanding and we have had to be very focused and attentive in order to win. We have had a great time getting to know this regularity and navigation format, and it is perfect for us to prepare for the Dakar. Enrique Ruiz \u2013 Aran Sol (Seat Ateca Marathon) won in the Open category, reserved for modern vehicles. It is the second consecutive edition that an Ateca from the Seat Hist\u00f3ricos team, with Aran Sol as co-driver, has taken victory in this category. Lesmes \u2013 Rom\u00f3n \u2013 Casabona also won in Trucks.
