- The event, taking place from 12 to 17 September, reaffirms its status as the benchmark competition to prepare for the Dakar Classic and the Africa Eco Race.
- RallyClassics Africa will bring together legendary off-road icons such as the Seat Toledo Marathon, Porsche 959, Mitsubishi Pajero, and Toyota Land Cruiser.
RallyClassics Africa 2025, scheduled from 12 to 17 September, promises five demanding stages and over 1,000 kilometres across the challenging Moroccan desert landscapes.
A total of 42 teams, a participation record, have accepted the challenge set by RallyClassics, Josep Maria Servià, and Fina Román in this third edition of the rally-raid.
This event offers a unique format in Africa, combining regularity and navigation zones within each stage. After just two editions, it has already earned a place on the international off-road calendar as an essential event for teams looking to prepare thoroughly for future participations in the Dakar Classic or the Africa Eco Race.
Proof of its value: six of the top 12 finishers in the latest Dakar Classic previously competed in RallyClassics Africa. Among them were Carlos Santaolalla and Jan Rosa, winners of RallyClassics Africa 2024 and, just a few months later, of the Dakar Classic 2025.
With a comfortable base (at the Hotel Xaluca in Erfoud) and a challenging, technical, and thrilling route, the event attracts teams from around the world to Morocco. From the arid tracks of Erfoud to the magical dunes of Merzouga, these unmatched landscapes complete an unforgettable experience.
KH-7, Spain’s leading brand in kitchen cleaning products and stain removers, once again serves as the event’s main sponsor, reaffirming its commitment to classic motorsport competitions organized by RallyClassics. KH-7 is also the Title Sponsor of the Rally KH-7 Costa Brava, the oldest rally in Spain and benchmark event in the FIA European Historic Rally Championship.
An adventure open to off-road vehicles of all eras
Another hallmark of RallyClassics Africa is its wide range of eligible vehicles. The rally-raid is open to 4×4 vehicles of all eras (although only those built before 2005 can compete for the overall victory), off-road trucks, and SSV.
The format, which combines regularity and navigation, balances performance and rewards skilled navigation. This allows teams driving icons of the 1980s and 1990s, new-generation buggies, and even modern SUVs specially prepared for the event to compete on equal terms.
Quality and experience on the entry list
The third edition of RallyClassics Africa sets a record for participation, with teams representing 10 countries and 3 continents.
Among the highlights there is the return of the legendary Seat Toledo Marathon, driven by Antonio Rius, both driver and car already winners of this rally in 2023. Seat Históricos once again sees this event as the perfect showcase to demonstrate the virtues of the ambitious off-road project developed by Seat Sport in the late 1980s and early 1990s.
Rius will be joined by Carles Jiménez in the Toledo Marathon, while the SEAT Históricos line-up will also include three SEAT Ateca Marathon cars, driven by CUPRA official driver Jordi Gené and communicators Albert Fàbrega and Daniel Cuadrado.
The Spanish squad TH-Trucks Team will field the largest fleet in Morocco, with nine vehicles. Among them are the Toyota Land Cruisers of Dirk Van Rompuy – Jan Rosa (the latter, reigning winner of the event and two-time Dakar Classic champion) and Rafa Lesmes – Tabatha Romón.
Also fielding a strong presence is the Italian R-Team, with eight vehicles, mostly Mitsubishi Pajeros. As a major highlight, the team will debut two spectacular Porsche 959 EVOs developed in collaboration with Porsche specialist Sikkens Motorsport, facing their first real-world desert test at RallyClassics Africa.
Pedregà Team will once again join the event, with three vehicles of its own at the start line, while also providing assistance services to various amateur participants competing independently. Year after year, many of these privateers find in RallyClassics Africa the ultimate off-road adventure.
Notably, more than one-third of the teams registered will be making their RallyClassics Africa debut this year.
New features to strengthen a winning formula
For this edition, the organization has designed a varied, exciting route with increasing difficulty as the days progress.
Teams will start with a mix of rough tracks and sandy oueds before heading deep into the famous Merzouga dunes during the second half of the rally. The event maintains its relaxed schedule, with daily stages of around six hours.
New features for 2025 include a trophy for the best team in dune navigation, a trophy for the best local team, and the introduction of a dedicated test day to allow vehicles to be fine-tuned before the rally begins.
RallyClassics Africa is possible thanks to the collaboration of KH-7, Grup Xaluca, Servià Desert, TH-Trucks Team, Pedregà Team, Classic Cover and Coremosa.
